The Indian automaker is expected to launch the vehicle in the market soon

A BS6-compliant Tata Hexa has been spied while it was undergoing testing on Indian roads recently.

The automaker has yet to launch the Hexa that complies with the latest emissions regulations in the Indian market. While the firm is working on bringing out the latest model, it also seems to be working on a new variant in the form of XMA 4×4.

The badges that denote that the car undergoing tests is the XMA variant with 4-wheel-drive can be seen on the tailgate and on the front fender, respectively.

Those points aside, the vehicle looks very much like the BS4 Hexa. The chrome trim along the window lines and on top of the tail lamps is the same. But, the trim that connects the tail lights and houses the manufacturer’s badge is in black on the car.

Dual exhaust outlets look to be the same as the ones on the discontinued car, while the BS6 Tata Hexa spied car was running on steel wheels.

In its BS4 guise, the Tata Hexa was powered by a 2.2-litre diesel in two states of tune, namely the Varicor 320 which made 148 BHP and 320 Nm and was mated to a 5-speed manual, and the Varicor 400 putting out 154 BHP and 400 Nm, offered with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed auto gearbox.

After the introduction of the Harrier, Tata pulled the plug on lower variants and offered the vehicle only with the Varicor 400 engine. Thus, Tata might offer the BS6 Hexa with only the higher-powered engine option.
