Skoda Developing 3 Compact EVs, To Position Them Below Enyaq iV
The upcoming compact EV models from Skoda will help the brand grow in the electric car segment
Having introduced the second all-electric Enyaq model, Skoda Auto has revealed that it plans to launch 3 new compact electric vehicles (EVs) next.
This piece of information was disclosed by the company’s boss Thomas Schafer who also did not rule out the possibility of launching larger EVs which will be positioned above the Enyaq iV range.
The 3 upcoming compact EV models from Skoda will include a sedan and a hatchback (think Volkswagen ID3) which will be based on the compact version of the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform.
Skoda assures that its upcoming compact EVs will be different to models that its sister brands will unveil in the future. For example, the Volkswagen ID Life also underpinned by the compact MEB architecture is expected to arrive in 2025.
The 3 compact EV cars, Skoda says, will be positioned below the Enyaq and are currently the priority for the brand that is expanding its presence in the EV industry.
When it comes to its operations in India, the Czech carmaker sold 3009 units in the Union of States this January and had also launched the refreshed Kodiaq premium SUV in the same month.
All of the 1200 units of the Kodiaq allocated for the Indian market for 2022 have been sold already, while Skoda is getting ready to introduce the Slavia C-segment sedan in March, followed by 4 other models later in the year.
