Volkswagen India To Launch e-Golf

Volkswagen is to launch its range of electric cars in India. Volkswagen’s e-version of the Golf will hit the market by 2013. The German automaker also plans to launch electric variants of the Up! and the Jetta. The company is looking to produce an electric car that can be affordable by every user from all segments. Volkswagen is cooperating with companies like Toshiba and Sanyo of Japan as well as Chinese battery and car producer BYD. The company believes that the key of developing an electric car is the powerful and affordable lithium-ion batteries.
