Volkswagen Ameo Launched In India, Priced From Rs. 5.14 Lakhs
The Volkswagen Ameo has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 5.14 lakhs. The vehicle will compete in the popular compact sedan segment.
Volkswagen has finally launched its offering in the compact sedan segment, the Ameo and it is priced from Rs. 5.14 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai, without octroi). The Ameo is offered in 3 trims – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline and as of now it is available with only the 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine.
The Volkswagen Ameo compact sedan is slotted between the Polo and Vento. The front fascia of the vehicle is shared with its siblings while the rear gets a new design. The length of the car is kept such that it complies with the sub 4-metre rule. The interiors of the Ameo are also similar to the Polo and Vento.
The Volkswagen Ameo has a good equipment list with features like – cruise control, rain sensing wipers, all 4 anti-pinch power windows, front armrest, static cornering lights, rear view camera, touchscreen infotainment system, Climatronic automatic AC, etc. The Ameo also gets standard dual front airbags and ABS in all variants.
The compact sedan is initially offered with only the petrol engine that produces 73 HP of power and 110 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Fuel efficiency is claimed to be 17.83 km/l. The German automaker will introduce the 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine on the Ameo at a later date. The Volkswagen Ameo competes with the Maruti Swift DZire, Ford Figo Aspire, Tata Zest, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.
