Tata Cassini
After the launch of the Harrier SUV, Tata announced that there is a 7-seater version of the SUV on cards. Tata revealed the 7-seater version of the Harrier at the Geneva Motor Show as the Buzzard. However, Tata is expected to rename the car as Cassini for the Indian market. The Cassini is based on a platform derived from the Land Rover Discovery Sport and adopts Tata’s Impact 2.0 design philosophy. It looks similar to the Harrier and gets slim LED DRLs, a honeycomb grille, flared wheel arches and the three-dimensional tail lights.
Power comes from the same Fiat-derived Kryotec diesel engine seen in the Harrier. However, the engine will be tuned to produce about 172 PS of peak power in the Cassini as in the Jeep Compass. Tata will also provide the option of an automatic transmission with the Cassini that has been sourced from Hyundai. The Cassini will be priced a significant premium over the Harrier and is likely to get a starting price of Rs. 16 lakhs (ex-showroom). Tata will launch the Cassini weeks after the Altroz is launched this year.
