Triumph Scrambler T4 Spotted Testing, Removes The Premium Features From The Scrambler 400 X

Triumph is developing a lighter version of the Scrambler 400 X. The Scrambler T4 model, unofficially named, aims to be more affordable than the regular Scrambler 400 X. German publication Motorrad & Reisen spotted it testing.

The affordable Scrambler T4 is based on the Scrambler 400 X. It removes some premium materials and aspects for a more affordable price point. The final name stays under wraps, but many expect it to be called the Scrambler T4 or Scrambler 400 RS.

Visual Changes

The test mule features a new side body panel, a smaller windscreen and a black cover for the Upside-Down fork suspension. The seat is a single-piece unit with the absence of tank pads. The rear gets a revised, subdued tail-section, exposed pillion grab rail, and reduced tail lights.
The missing brace pads and knuckle guards reveal that the handlebar is stripped out.

These aspects help us understand that the model aims to be an affordable version. The Scrambler T4 will feature a 398cc single-cylinder engine, similar to the one found on the Speed T4. It will produce 30.6 HP and 36 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The Scrambler T4 will also have a part-digital instrument cluster alongside an analogue throttle.

Outlook

Triumph is yet to announce launch details regarding the Scrambler T4. However, this test mule reveals quite a few details regarding the adventure bike. While they keep the exact details under wraps, we can assume that the affordable version of the Scrambler will cost less than the regular Scrambler 400 X.
