Toyota has suspended bookings of the Fortuner barely a month after they were reopened. The Fortuner has been an instant hit in the market and commands over 59% market share. This decision from Toyota comes in order to to clear over 6000 pending orders.

Toyota has received more than 3000 bookings in July itself after the bookings were reopened from 1st July. The company plans to restart the bookings of the Fortuner by Jan 2011 only after clearing the backlog by the end of this year. Production of the Fortuner has already been stepped up from 500 to 1000 units monthly.
