Toyota Glanza Recall Issued, 6500 Cars Affected

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has issued a recall to replace faulty fuel pumps on 6500 Glanza hatchbacks in India.

Toyota says that the cars that are affected by the faulty fuel pump issue were manufactured between 2nd April 2019 and 6th October the same year.

The Japanese major states that owners of the cars that are covered under the recall will be contacted by company dealers.

The affected vehicles will then be brought in for inspection by Toyota’s authorised dealerships and the faulty fuel pumps will be replaced free of cost.

It was only yesterday (15th July 2020) that Maruti Suzuki had announced that it will be recalling over 1.34 lakh units of the Wagon R and Baleno hatchbacks over a similar faulty fuel pump issue.

In total 78,222 Baleno’s were affected and they were manufactured between 8th January 2019 and 4th November 2019.

Since the Toyota Glanza is a rebadged version of the Baleno, it is currently manufactured by Maruti Suzuki and shipped directly to Toyota’s dealerships, the recall is timely to say the least.

For those who do not know, Toyota and Suzuki had in March 2018 agreed to supply hybrid and other vehicles to each other in the Indian market. Glanza was the first car to be launched by Toyota as part of the deal.

Furthermore, Toyota had announced on 14th July that it will temporarily halt production at its plant in Bidadi, Karnataka till the first shift on 22nd July, in accordance with the directives issued by the Karnataka government.
