Toyota surpasses 3 lakh cumulative sales of Fortuner and Legender SUVs in India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has achieved a significant milestone with cumulative sales of over 3 lakh units of its Fortuner and Legender SUVs in the Indian market. This landmark highlights the enduring popularity of these models, especially in the premium SUV segment.

The Toyota Fortuner made its debut in India in 2009 and has since become a well-established name in the segment. Built on a robust ladder-frame chassis and offering four-wheel drive, the Fortuner has consistently appealed to customers looking for a dependable and capable SUV, both on and off the road.

In 2021, Toyota expanded its premium SUV lineup with the introduction of the Legender. While it shares its underpinnings with the Fortuner, the Legender is positioned as a more stylish and feature-rich alternative. It features design enhancements and comes equipped with premium offerings such as sequential LED turn indicators, a wireless charging pad and an 11-speaker JBL audio system.

The Fortuner is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.8-litre diesel engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The petrol variant uses a 2.7-litre engine, offered with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

On the other hand, the Legender is available exclusively with the 2.8-litre diesel engine. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

This sales achievement reinforces Toyota’s strong foothold in the Indian SUV market. With its combination of rugged performance, versatile drivetrains and feature-rich interiors, the Fortuner and Legender continue to attract a loyal customer base.
