Tata Safari Storme Road Test

Tata Motors launched the much awaited Safari Storme in October 2012 only in Maharshtra, Delhi and Punjab initially. Tata Motors were facing some production issues initially to launch the Safari all over India. Now the company has ramped up its production and is ready to roll out the Safari Storme all over the country. Currently, Tata Motors are not doing well in the SUV market and are planning to introduce new variants of the Safari in the future including equipment-rich updated Aria with new features. According to reports, we can expect an automatic variant of the Safari Storme in the near future.

Tata Motors has managed to improve the overall performance of the Safari, the SUV handles better than the old generation model, they have reduced the turning radius and the overall quality has been improved too. The design of the Safari Storme looks almost the same as its predecessor. The SUV is based on the Aria’s X2 platform that provides excellent ride quality. The Safari Storme is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine, badged as Varicor, that produces a peak power of 140 BHP and 320 Nm of torque mated to a much refined five-speed manual transmission.

The Safari Storme has good off-roading capabilities. It offers a humongous 200mm of ground clearance and features an electronic ‘shift-on-fly’ system to engage four-wheel drive on the move. The equipment list includes ABS, EBD, Dual SRS Front Airbags, Immobilizer, Reverse Guide System, Bluetooth connectivity and much more. The direct rival for the Tata Safari Storme is the Mahindra XUV 500 offering endless feature list and up market design. The basic variant of the Tata Safari Storme comes at a price of Rs. 9 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect it to be available all over India from February.
