Surprise! Tata Assigns Punch Moniker To HBX, Reveals Design

The Tata Punch will be launched in the market this festive season.

It was neither the HBX, nor the Hornbill. Tata has instead chosen the moniker Punch for its soon-to-be launched small crossover product.

The carmaker has also released an image of the vehicle which sports the firm’s Impact 2.0 design language and looks like a shrunken Harrier.

Tata claims the Punch has been designed for the next generation users and that it offers a mix of tough utility with sporting dynamics.

The small crossover has raised suspension and body cladding throughout the lower portion, while up top, it has DRLs that are connected by a chrome trim piece.

Located just below are the main lights, and situated even lower are the fog lights that flank the grille which has Y-shaped detailing.

Sporting alloy wheels, the Tata Punch has a dual tone colour scheme, with the mirror caps being painted in the same colour (which is white) as the roof.

Tata has blacked out all the pillars and the rear door handles are located on the C-pillars. The rear profile of the car is yet to be revealed, but, it is numerous spy shots have revealed that the Punch will sport wrap-around tail lamps.

Official images of the car’s interior is awaited too. But, Tata claims the Punch has ample cabin space, offers high seating position and segment leading safety.

Expect the Punch to be powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine which does duty in models like the Tiago and Altroz. It should come with 2 gearbox choices – a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

Built on the Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture (ALFA-ARC) platform, the Tata Punch will be launched this festive season.
