Skoda Kodiaq BS6 Launch Delayed To 2021
Skoda Kodiaq BS6 launch is nowhere close to what you were expecting. The Czech carmaker showcased the updated flagship SUV at the Auto Expo 2020.
The carmaker revealed the specifications of the BS6 compliant 2.0-litre TSI motor that will power the Kodiaq. It was expected to launch soon after the biennial event but who knew it will be re-introduced after a year!
Yes that’s right. Skoda India boss Zac Hollis has confirmed on his Twitter account that the BS6 compliant Kodiaq will now be introduced by early 2021.
We believe the obvious reason behind the delay is production and supply chain issues due to the worldwide lockdown in this crazy pandemic situation.
There will be almost no changes in equipment or styling and even variants. The only major difference will be the new 2.0-litre TSI BS6 turbo petrol engine replacing the 2.0-litre diesel engine.
It will be the same petrol motor powering the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. It produces 190 PS and 320 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Compared to the 2.0-litre diesel, it is 40 PS more powerful and generates 20 Nm less torque.
Now since the Kodiaq will be a petrol-only SUV, it will directly compete with its sibling the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and the Japanese rival Honda CR-V. Otherwise, the price point rivals also include the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
We expect it to be priced upwards of Rs. 30 lakhs (ex-showroom). We hope Skoda India brings the sporty Kodiaq RS variant too, which is powered by the same petrol engine but with different tuning and racy aesthetics.
