Royal Enfield is expanding its middleweight bike range and the recently spied SG650 will be an integral part of it

The Royal Enfield SG650 is no more a concept as it has been spied on Indian soil. It was first previewed in November last year and showcased at EICMA 2021. Likely to be named the Shotgun, this bike will be the much-awaited successor to the Classic 500.

Riding on alloy wheels, the middleweight cruiser motorcycle has a circular headlight, round mirrors and tonnes of camouflage. Suffice to say, Enfield has done its best to disguise the identity of the motorcycle.

Despite the camouflage, the bike’s identity can be found easily

Seemingly powered by the brand’s 648cc parallel-twin engine, which is evident due to the presence of twin exhaust outlets, the recently spied Royal Enfield SG650 also has a disc brake at each end.

Interestingly, the test rider had a slight lean toward the front. The handlebar is not high-set and thus seems to have demanded such a posture. The foot pegs though are placed beside the engine casings.

This is not the first time the SG650 has been spied in India. The premium bike maker was seen taking the middleweight out for a spin in January last year.

Thanks to that development mule sporting almost no camouflage whatsoever, one can say without a doubt that this recently spotted bike is the upcoming Shotgun 650.

It will come with inverted front forks, twin rear shocks, well-padded split seat, circular instrumentation and will join the brand’s middleweight range that is set to explode with the arrival of new models in the coming years.
