River Indie Electric Scooter Gets 8-Year Battery & Motor Warranty Option

River extends battery and motor warranty for Indie scooter to 8 years

Bengaluru-based EV maker River has introduced an extended warranty program for its flagship electric scooter, the River Indie. Starting October 1, 2025, both new buyers and existing owners can opt for an 8-year/80,000 km warranty covering the scooter’s battery and motor.

The program safeguards customers if the battery’s state of health drops below 70 percent or if the motor fails even after repairs. The warranty is available at Rs. 8399 plus GST for customers who purchased the scooter after April 1, 2025. Existing customers who previously opted for the company’s 5-year extended warranty can upgrade to the new plan for Rs. 3399 plus GST, within a one-month window.

River highlights that the 8-year coverage is among the longest in India’s electric two-wheeler industry, designed to enhance brand trust and provide long-term value. The company currently operates 32 outlets across 15 cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi and Visakhapatnam, with plans to expand nationwide by 2026 through a mix of company-owned and partner dealerships. River is also preparing to introduce a second product, expected in 2026.
