After introducing the Triber AMT, Renault has brought in the popular Duster compact SUV with a BS6-compliant 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine producing 156 PS of power and peak torque of 250 Nm. The engine is offered with both a manual gearbox and a CVT.

This BS6-compliant engine is expected to compensate for Reanult’s bigger 1.5-litre diesel engine in the BS6 era. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine was introduced in Renault’s international portfolio in 2018. It is likely that the same engine will be offered with the Captur in the future whereas Alliance partner Nissan might just offer it with the Kicks.

In December 2019, the Renault Duster recorded a negative YoY of 42% after selling 756 units in a month. Recent debuts in this very popular midsize SUV segment has made things difficult for this veteran. Here’s hoping that the new and peppier engine aids its lost cause.
