Mahindra two-wheelers has launched an entry level variant of the Pantero motorcycle priced at Rs. 39,650/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle manufacturer has been striving hard for some success in the high selling commuter segment with its products but has not been able to achieve success as it has been facing stiff competition from its prime rivals TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto and Hero MotoCorp. These players are very well established in the market which makes it tough for Mahindra to compete.

With the launch of the entry level Pantero, Mahindra expects to gain some market share in the 100cc segment. The entry level variant uses the same MCi-5 (Micro Chip ignited, 5-curve) 110cc engine from its predecessor producing 8.5 BHP of power at 7500 RPM. The Pantero delivers a mileage of 79.4 km/l as claimed by the manufacturer. The bike comes with kick start, spoke wheels and a basic analogue console. The removal of many features has help the company offer a stripped down entry level variant of the Pantero.

Mahindra has been constantly trying to gain customers by providing value for money products offering some style and features at competitive prices. The company is new in the 2-wheeler space and is investing heavily to gain market share. Just recently Mahindra withdrew its stake from Engines Engineering and has now put forth an R&D centre which will develop future Mahindra motorcycles. The company will launch the Mojo 300 later this year, which will be priced around Rs. 1.75 lakhs.
