Kia Sonet India Launch In August, Hyundai Venue Rival
Kia Sonet production version to make its debut in mid-2020.
After a lot of speculations and rumours, Kia finally revealed the Sonet in its concept form at the Auto Expo 2020. The South Korean carmaker is now expected to make its world premier in mid-2020 revealing the production version.
The concept version looks almost like a production car apart from those huge wheels, shiny paint job and tiny ORVMs. Following the world premier in mid-2020, the final market launch is scheduled to happen in August.
It will be the third offering from Kia in India and an entry-level model positioned under the Kia Seltos. The Sonet is based on the Hyundai Venue sharing most of the mechanicals but the interior and exterior is completely different.
The Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue will have most of the features in common but the former is likely to offer a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a large sunroof.
The Sonet will be offered in three engine options – 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo petrol. It will also get a diesel auto powertrain which the Venue doesn’t offer.
Expected price of the Sonet will be in the range of Rs. 7-12 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will compete against the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and the likes.
