Kia AY compact SUV to compete with Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny
Kia is preparing to launch a new compact SUV in India, codenamed AY. It will be positioned between the Kia Sonet and Seltos in their Indian portfolio.
The sub 4-metre compact lifestyle SUV will be launched in the country by 2025. It will fall in the Rs. 12 lakhs to 24 lakhs price bracket. It will be catering a wide range of audience with multiple engine and transmission options.
The AY will get a tall and boxy design unlike the current Kia lineup having a crossoverish design and will compete with the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny.
Kia will be offering both petrol and electric powertrains with this vehicle. The petrol version is likely to get a 1.0-litre turbo engine with front-wheel drive layout. The electric version is expected to come with four-wheel drive system having motors on all four wheels.
