Jeep Compass New Gen Debut Later This Year
Jeep Compass to get new engine options including an all-electric variant
Jeep is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its model lineup, starting with the Jeep Compass. The American automaker is developing a completely new version of the Compass for the European market, marking the first in a series of next-generation vehicles. This new model is also expected to launch in India soon after its international debut.
The upcoming Compass will be constructed on the STLA-M platform from Stellantis, Jeep’s parent company. This new foundation is expected to accommodate a variety of powertrain options, including mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric versions, offering a broad range of choices for consumers seeking different levels of performance and environmental impact.
In terms of design, the new Compass will retain its identity as a 5-seater SUV but will feature a more robust and upright stance compared to the current model. Jeep is likely to introduce the Compass in two variants – the standard model and the Trail-Rated edition. The Trail-Rated version is designed for off-road enthusiasts, boasting a higher ride height, specialised off-road tyres, improved approach and departure angles and rugged exterior materials.
Inside, the new generation Compass is likely to receive a comprehensive redesign. Borrowing technology from other Stellantis Group brands, the Compass may incorporate Peugeot’s windscreen i-cockpit layout and Vauxhall Grandland’s 16-inch widescreen display. These enhancements aim to elevate the driving experience with advanced infotainment and connectivity features. True to Jeep’s tradition, the interior will also feature ‘Easter Eggs’ – subtle design elements and surprises hidden throughout the vehicle.
We can expect Jeep to introduce the new gen Compass in India later next year. Currently, the Jeep Compass competes with a range of vehicles belonging from different segments including Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan and the likes.
