Hyundai Motor Company has revealed the Ioniq V electric sedan concept at the Auto China, marking the introduction of its Ioniq sub-brand in the Chinese market. The concept signals Hyundai’s renewed focus on China, which remains the world’s largest and one of the most competitive EV markets.

The Hyundai Ioniq V is part of Hyundai’s broader plan to launch 20 new models in China over the next five years. The company is working alongside its local joint venture to scale operations, with a long-term target of achieving annual sales of 5,00,000 units including exports.

From a design standpoint, the Ioniq V adopts a streamlined silhouette with elements such as edge lighting and digital side mirrors aimed at improving aerodynamic efficiency. The sedan measures 4900 mm in length and 1890 mm in width, with a wheelbase of 2900 mm, positioning it as a spacious offering in its segment. Frameless doors further enhance the premium appeal.

Inside, the concept highlights a technology-focused cabin. A 27-inch ultra-thin 4K panoramic display dominates the dashboard, complemented by a head-up display and ambient lighting. The car is equipped with an eight-speaker audio system supporting Dolby Atmos, while a large language model-based AI assistant enables voice control for multiple vehicle functions.

Hyundai states that the Ioniq V has been engineered to deliver a balanced ride, with suspension tuned for comfort and stability across varying road conditions. The automaker also claims improvements in cabin refinement through reduced road and wind noise. Safety features include a reinforced body structure, multiple advanced driver assistance systems and up to nine airbags.

Speaking at the event, José Muñoz emphasised China’s importance in Hyundai’s global EV strategy, citing its advanced ecosystem, rapid development pace and strong consumer demand as key factors driving the company’s increased investment in the region.
