Bajaj and KTM have been thriving in India ever since they shook hands. The partnership has been largely dominating the performance segment in the country with their value for money products. Amidst this, the duo had announced that one more mate – Husqvarna is going to join the pair. Both the companies have plans to produce, launch and take the Husqvarna brand global.

Earlier we had reported that KTM is about to start the production of Husqvarna motorcycles at Bajaj’ Chakan facility which will be followed by the launch in India by 2018. Contrarily, a news has now come in that the India launch of Husqvarna bikes has been delayed and it is scheduled to take place by 2020. KTM will be taking care of the manufacturing process along with the introduction of the brand in India.

Currently, KTM has the setup to manufacture 1 lakh motorcycles a year at the Chakan plant. Reportedly, when it will commence the production of Husqvarna bikes there by the end of 2019, the Austrian bike maker will enhance the capacity to 2 lakh units a year. However, the introduction won’t be limited to India only as KTM, along with Bajaj, is seeking to launch Husqvarna products in some African markets as well.

KTM’s sales chart in India touched the figure of 40,000 units the previous year. This year, the brand is anticipating for it to reach 50,000 units. Perhaps, KTM is expecting the same response for Husqvarna motorcycles in the country. Along with Bajaj, it will majorly focus on the same segment as that of the KTM Duke 390 and it will share the same powerplant with the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401.
