2012 Honda Activa Road Test

The domination of Honda gear-less scooters in the market is not an unknown fact to anyone. The company’s famous model, the Activa has been a boon for city riders and has revived the auto-gear two-wheelers market since its introduction in 2000 in India. Honda’s scooter lineup features a 109cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which is performing well but the absence of Honda’s 125cc scooter has slightly faded the eminence of the company in the market. Now, to expand the company’s presence in the Y horizon, Honda is planning to launch a new 125cc Activa.

The Activa has been a potential product for customers in the Indian market and no doubt the model has earned buyers faith which will directly help the company to grow in the 125cc segment. The new Activa will be powered by an all-new 125cc, auto-transmission engine that will generate approximately 10 BHP of power. The performance will be more refined, smooth and energetic. The new Activa will feature upgrades like a front disc brake, telescopic front forks, more comfortable ergonomics, digital instrument console and a better design.

The new 125cc Honda Activa will compete with the existing rivals in the segment like theSuzuki Access, Piaggio Vespa 125 and Mahindra Rodeo. Honda’s prestige and faith of customers over the brand name will certainly help the Japanese company to establish the new product well in the market. The new 125cc engine might also be seen on the Aviator and Dio at a later stage. The new Activa 125 is expected to make its debut by September this year with a price tag of over Rs. 60,000/-.
