Honda Brio India Launch

Honda India is making plans to export their latest offering, the compact car Brio to the neighboring countries like Nepal and Bhutan from next year. Honda rolls out the Brio from their Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The company already exports some components of the Brio to countries like Indonesia and Malaysia to compete with other models like Maruti’s Swift and WagonR and Hyundai’s i10 and i20. Honda launched the Brio very recently for a price tag of Rs. 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is powered by a 1200 cc engine and it meets BSIV emission norms. It is being offered in 4 variants with 6 colours to choose from.

“We are looking to achieve localisation of Brio from the present level of 80 per cent to 90 per cent by the end of this fiscal. This would bring down the cost of production. However, it doesn’t mean we will reduce the price. The Rajasthan plant has an installed capacity of 100,000 units. We should be able to fully utilise the capacity by the end of Q1 of 2012,” Seki Inaba, Director (marketing), Honda India, said.
