This could well be a China-only affair

The Honda HR-V EV only comes with mild changes to differentiate itself from the regular model

While Indians are yet to see the new generation Honda HR-V get introduced in the market, the Chinese will get to see the electric version of the car today.

By the time this article was written, there was a countdown (with about 3 hours to go) until the premiere of the HR-V EV on Honda’s China website.

However, images of the electric car were published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on its website post completion of the homologation process, leaving nothing to one’s imagination, that is, with regard to the car’s exterior design.

It has got quite a strange name!

Looking exactly like the SUV e:prototype which the Japanese firm showcased at the Auto Shanghai 2021 in April, the electric crossover goes by the name e:NS1.

In terms of design, the 2022 Honda HR-V EV adopts the styling of the variant powered by an internal combustion engine (ICE), but has new bumpers, clear tail lamps and different 18-inch wheels.

Of course, it also does away with a radiator grille, and instead has a hatch (which incorporates the manufacturer’s emblem) that hides the front charging port.

The MIIT website also reveals some specifications of the EV. Weighing 2108 kg, the HR-V EV has a 68.8 kWh battery pack and is powered by a 150 kW (201 BHP) motor which propels it to a top speed of 150 km/hr.
