The BS6 emission norms are about to kick in and the deadline for manufacturers to stop selling BS4 engine powered vehicles is April 1, 2020. These days all the manufacturers are on their toes to update their vehicles to comply with BS6 emission norms. One of them is Honda that will soon launch the updated City with BS6 compliant petrol engine.

RTO has issued a circular recently that reveals the specifications of Honda City’s BS6 compliant petrol engine. This suggests that the launch is about to happen very soon. Also, there are no changes in the power output of the BS6 engine compared to the BS4 one.

The 1.5-litre i-VTEC BS6 petrol engine of the Honda City produces the same 119 PS of power at 6600 RPM. While the torque output isn’t mentioned in the circular, we believe it’ll be the same 145 Nm at 4600 RPM. The petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission along with an option of a CVT automatic.

Meanwhile, Honda is preparing to reveal the fifth generation Honda City very soon. However, it will take some time to launch in the Indian marker, which is likely to happen later in 2020. For the time being, Honda will updated the current gen City with BS6 engine options to continue selling the C-segment sedan post April 2020.
