General Motors will enter the van segment with the launch of the Wuling Hong Tu (that is what its called in China). The vehicle is made by SAIC Wuling and is codenamed N200 internally. The Hong Tu has a 2500mm wheelbase and will compete with the Maruti Eeco. It will be powered by a 1.2 liter 85bhp petrol motor and will be less than 4-meter long helping it to qualify as a small car. The rear wheel drive vehicle will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The base variant has rear leaf spring suspension while the top variant gets coil springs, something which we find quite funny. Although quality is not expected to be great, the prices surely will make competitors do a re-check of their offerings.
