Ford Beefs Up Production At Chennai Plant

The Ford Figo is virtually driving Ford to success in India and Ford is exploring new overseas markets to launch the Figo, South Africa being one of them. In order to cope with existing orders and since exports are already on their way, Ford has stepped up production by introducing a second shift at its Chennai plant.

“Yes, we have started our second production shift at our Chennai plant to meet the increasing demand for Figo. Figo is getting a good response from the market and the company has received 24,000 purchase orders in the first four months of launch. This small car is helping to drive our sales growth” – Nigel E Wark, Ford India Executive Director (Marketing & Sales)

Ford will employ 600 – 700 personnel and production capacity would be increased by 30 – 40 percent.
