Fiat India has been in the news of late but for all the wrong reasons. First the dwindling sales and then the hiccup in its partnership with Tata Motors, which the group chairman Ratan Tata feels needs a critical examination. However Fiat has been quick to respond and has now decided to overhaul its products and distribution strategy in India. Officials from Fiat Spa, Italy visited India to help out the Indian management devise a plan to get Fiat where it belongs (amongst the top). Fiat India is planning to setup its own showrooms (independent from Tata Motors’ outlets) to create an identity of its own. However Tata Motors will still continue to support the Italian automaker in promotion and marketing of its fantastic cars.

Fiat also plans to launch new models in India soon. This year has been dry from the launch perspective for Fiat, which has not launched any new car in the past six months. The first car in the comeback strategy would be the Punto Evo (pictured here is the Abarth version). It will be followed by a facelifted Linea, which would have several improvements to keep it competition in the growing yet competitive C-segment. In 2012 Fiat plans to launch a small car, which will be very critical for the success of the Italian automaker in the country.
