A private email exchange involving Ferrari’s electric vehicle Luce, has surfaced online, drawing attention to the mixed reactions surrounding the brand’s first EV. The leaked conversation appears to show a Ferrari sales consultant reaching out to a prospective customer as part of an early engagement programme for the model.

According to screenshots circulating on social media, Ferrari sales consultant Lee Perkins contacted collector Jeffrey Cheng, inviting him to learn more about the Luce and its allocation process. The email reportedly described the electric model as Ferrari’s vision for the future while emphasising that it would retain the brand’s driving character.

Cheng responded with strong criticism of the vehicle, expressing dissatisfaction with its styling and overall concept. In his reply, he said he would not consider purchasing the model and argued that its design did not reflect Ferrari’s traditional design language. He also questioned the direction taken for the company’s first electric vehicle.

The collector’s comments extended beyond the vehicle’s electric powertrain. Much of his criticism focused on the car’s exterior design, which he felt lacked the visual identity associated with the Ferrari brand. He also suggested that some customers could be interested in the model primarily to maintain their position within Ferrari’s allocation programme rather than because of the vehicle itself.

The leaked exchange highlights the differing opinions surrounding Ferrari’s transition to electrification. While the company has stated that its first EV aims to preserve the brand’s core driving experience, reactions from enthusiasts and collectors have been divided.

Ferrari has not publicly commented on the authenticity of the leaked emails or the remarks attributed to the collector.
