Have you dreamt of owning an exotic Italian beauty (4 wheeler of course) anytime in future and saving desperately for it? If you are or have a similar kind of dream, you might be in for some good news. Shaman Group who are the dealers for Mercedes, Honda and Volkswagen in Mumbai have opened an exclusive club called “Club Torque”, India’s first supercar rental service club. However, things are not as simple as just renting one of their cars and vrooming away.
As the name suggests, it’s a club and a club of this stature comes with a hefty membership fee. The basic annual membership fee costs Rs. 5 lakhs while other annual packages have a price tag of Rs. 8 lakhs and Rs. 15 lakhs. For the Rs. 5 lakhs membership fee, you get 3000 points and 20 days of driving per year while for the Rs. 8 lakhs and Rs. 15 lakhs one you get 40 and 80 days of annual driving respectively. For this price what can you rent? Well, as a start the fleet consist of a BMW Z4, a Ferrari F430, an Audi R8 and a Porsche 911 Turbo.
Among these, you can rent the Ferrari F430 for approximately 300 points per day while works out to be Rs. 80,000 per day. A BMW Z4 would cost you 125 points per day while a Porsche 911 would go to 175 points per day. But that is just on weekdays. On weekends, it can go as high as 600 points per day for the Ferrari. And that is not all. There are many rules and regulations attached with it. One of the rules worth mentioning is no track days allowed and no racing either. The Shaman Group has opened the club first in Mumbai with plans to open similar clubs in other cities in future.
