Here’s How Benda’s Turbocharged V-Twin Will Look Like
Benda had teased the VTR-300 Turbo back in January 2021
Chinese manufacturer Benda has been working on the VTR-300 Turbo for a period of time now and before it could officially showcase the motorcycle, the machine’s patent images have been leaked onto the internet.
Benda is becoming a manufacturer that can produce interesting designs and although the VTR-300 Turbo does not come with knockout styling, it sure is not boring either.
Up front, it is rather confusing to ascertain where the headlight will be placed. While the central element below the flyscreen could be the main light, it is also probable that the actual lights are around the air intakes in the nose.
Moving along, the bike comes with a fairing and the central bodywork has been designed to make people think that it does not have a steel trellis chassis, which the bike does.
The seat is split like in most supersport-style machines and the high tail section also follows the familiar design trend. At least it has twin ducts which seem to be functional.
It appears that a lot of emphasis has been put to ensure that the motor gets enough cooling. For example, there are pad-style parts below the tank on either side to prevent the rider’s knees from blocking the open section behind.
While the patent images of the Benda VTR-300 Turbo do not confirm the presence of a turbocharger, the company did explicitly use the term when it teased the motorcycle last year.
It will come powered by a 298cc V-twin DOHC unit that, with a turbo fitted to it, should make about 45-50 BHP. But, this is mere speculation and an official word will only confirm the same.
More performance than that is unlikely, as the VTR-300 Turbo only comes with a single front brake (with a Brembo caliper). There is a disc in the back and the bike rides on 10-spoke alloy wheels and also has inverted front forks and a monoshock in the rear.
Expect the small, but turbocharged, V-twin motorcycle to make is global debut later this year. It will be followed by 2 V4 machines from the Chinese brand. These are exciting times indeed!
