Bajaj Auto Production Restarts At Aurangabad Plant
Bajaj Auto restarts operations to serve export orders.
The Government of Maharashtra has allowed partial relaxation of the lockdown in areas where there are no cases of coronavirus. Bajaj Auto has restarted their operations at their Aurangabad facility with restrictions to follow.
Up to 850 workers will be allowed to work inside the plant in Waluj, Aurangabad. Bajaj Auto will be fulfilling the export orders worth Rs. 1000 crores on priority.
With this resumption in operations, Bajaj Auto will get the cashflow that is required to keep the huge fixed and variable costs in check.
The Indian bike maker has a huge export market including Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. They make completely knocked down kits for exports in their Aurangabad facility.
The export supply channels have started operations slowly. While the Aurangabad facility has got the green light, Bajaj Auto’s Chakan facility is still not allowed to operate.
The Chakan facility is in the vicinity of Pune and industrial activity in around Pune and Mumbai is strictly not allowed as these are some of the worst affected COVID-19 cities in the country.
For the domestic market, Bajaj Auto has enough BS6 stock to cater the demand soon after the lockdown is lifted in India.
