Chevrolet Sail Sedan, Sail U-VA Limited Editions Launched In India
Chevrolet launched the Sail U-VA and Sail sedan in India but these vehicles never managed to “sail” through the sales charts even though both of them are very capable. Most of the failure can be blamed on Chevrolet’s poor marketing strategy and also the fact that people perceive Chevrolet cars as expensive-to-maintain. Anyways, the competition was laughing when the Sail siblings drowned and now Chevrolet has launched limited editions of both the Sail U-VA as well as Sail sedan with hopes that they will sail ahead and catch up with competitors when it comes to sales.
The Chevrolet Sail sedan limited edition comes with rear parking sensors, integrated turn signals on ORVMs, illuminated door sill plates, body graphics, seat covers, pillows and a chrome garnish for the boot. The Sail U-VA limited edition is equipped with body graphics, a limited edition badge on the boot, seat covers and pillows, illuminated door sill plates, a chrome garnish for the boot, roof rails and integrated turn signals on the ORVMs. Nothing too special about these limited editions as these are mere accessories which can be bought easily in the after-market.
Mechanically, there are no changes to both the Sail siblings. They continue to be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine (86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque) and 1.3-litre diesel engine (78 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque). These engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Chevrolet Sail Sedan limited edition is priced from Rs. 5.07 lakhs, while the Sail U-VA limited edition is priced from Rs. 4.21 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The additional features on the limited edition model are worth Rs. 15,600/-.
Since there is nothing great about these special editions, we already know that general buyers would still prefer buying regular variants and then spruce them up according to their choice. Still, there will be a few who find these variants appealing. We will just have to wait and watch whether these limited edition Sails manage to get some sales.
