Skoda Planning To Export Rapid From India

The Czech car maker, Skoda is contemplating on starting to export its soon to be launched sedan in india, the Rapid to foreign countries. The Rapid Is due to launch in India on the 16th of November. Skoda wants the Rapid to become their best selling product in the country. The company will sell the car specifically in the Indian market and is betting big on the model. The company currently does not export any of its models from India. Skoda is expecting the car to become a game changer for it. Currently the Fabia is the bestselling product of Skoda. The Fabia sells about 1200 to 1500 units per month. The company is also planning to increase its dealer network strength to cater to the demand for the Rapid. he Skoda Rapid is going to be produced from its parents company Volkswagen’s plant at Chakan, near Pune.

“This car is specifically designed for India and the launch will be the global launch for the car. At a later stage, it may be introduced in different markets across the world. We have not decided anything about the exports yet as the car is meant for the domestic market. However, we may export the Rapid to some neighboring countries later. Currently we have 82 dealerships and it will be increased to about 100 by the end of this year. Next year, we will add another 20 outlets,” Tarun Jha, Marketing Head, Skoda Auto India, said.
