Suzuki Katana Discontinued In India, Brand Has Removed The Bike From Website & Instructed Dealers To Stop Bookings

Suzuki India discontinued the Katana, removed it from its website, and instructed dealers to stop taking bookings. The poor sales performance of the motorcycle forced this decision. Despite its global popularity, the Katana struggled to find buyers in the Indian market.

Styling

Suzuki launched the Katana in 2022, carrying a price tag of Rs. 13.6 lakh (ex-showroom). Its retro 80s-inspired styling failed to attract Indian customers. Most buyers preferred larger, more aggressive-looking motorcycles with stronger road presence.

Engine

The Katana featured a 999cc, inline-four engine that produced 150 HP at 11,000 rpm and 106 Nm of torque at 9,250rpm. This BS6-compliant motor was paired with a six-speed gearbox. It also included advanced electronics like traction control, ride modes, and low RPM assist.

Outlook

Suzuki usually avoids discontinuing big bikes in India, but the Katana had no future here. Limited demand quickly sealed its fate. The company will now focus on models that are better aligned with Indian market expectations.
