2024 Maruti Swift testing begins in India, prototypes spotted with camouflage
2024 Maruti Swift spotted testing in India for the first time as testing commences soon after Tokyo Motor Show debut. Three prototypes were spotted together with heavy camouflage.
The Japanese automaker showcased the new generation Swift as a concept model at the motor show but it is the final production design of the car. We can expect slight changes in the aesthetics on the Indian model but the overall look is expected to be the same.
The front gets a large headlight setup with LED headlamps and DRLs, there is a redesigned oval shaped grille, clampshell bonnet, new front and rear bumpers, new LED tail light design and of course new alloy wheel design as well. There is still some resemblance of the outgoing Swift from some angles and a layman would recognise the new gen car as a Swift with the similarities in its shape and silhouette.
The interior too is all-new which comes with a redesigned dashboard and new floating touchscreen infotainment system. Some of the controls and switches look similar to its new siblings.
It is based on the updated version of the third generation platform and it’s not an all-new platform. It will be powered by a new Z-Series 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine. The outgoing K12 unit had a 4-cylinder layout. The Japanese carmaker hasn’t revealed the specs of this engine yet.
Suzuki is also expected to launch a hybrid version of the new Swift soon but it is unlikely to make it to India initially. Maruti Suzuki will introduce the new model sometime by mid-2024. How do you like the new changes in the hatchback? Let us know in the comments.
