An electric scooter will hit the market before the motorcycle does

Husqvarna is planning to introduce an electric motorcycle named E-Pilen as early as 2022 and development work of the bike seems have already gotten underway.

It is known that KTM and Bajaj are planning a model onslaught in the electric 2-wheeler segment and are jointly developing an exclusive platform for the same. Now, it has transpired that Husqvarna will also benefit from it.

During an investor presentation, Pierer Mobility (which owns KTM, Husqvarna brands) revealed that an electric motorcycle named “E-Pilen” will make its debut in 2022.

The bike will be made in India by Bajaj Auto at its Chakan plant and reports suggest it will be made available in 4 kW and 10 kW variants, which is in-line with the products that are to be made using Bajaj and KTM’s common electric platform.

As seen in the above image, there is an electric scooter that is also under development and will hit the market next year. It even has the same electric motor power output as the Chetak at 4 kW.

This common platform, mentioned above, will spawn electric 2-wheelers with 3-10 kW electric motors using a 48V system and due to the expected low power output, the products will compete in the entry-level electric vehicle market.
