The upcoming Chevrolet Beat diesel is being tested rigorously as the launch of the smallest diesel car approaches. Spied near Fatehgunj in Vadodara, the Beat diesel will be powered by a 936cc 3-cylinder common rail diesel motor (Fiat 1.3 Multijet unit with one cylinder removed). The 1.0 liter TCDi mill in the Beat diesel produces 57bhp of power and 14.52kgm of torque. The oilburning Beat will be very economic and low on maintenance too and will be priced at Rs. 4-4.60 lakhs (ex-showroom).
