News highlights of the day include Volvo, Tata Motors, Ola, Honda and Maruti Suzuki.

Volvo – Volvo and its parent company Geely are considering a merger into a single company. The Swedish company is owned by Chinese carmaker since 2010. With this merger, both the carmakers will benefit from shared technology like the CMA and SPA platform along with the combustion engine divisions. However, the distinct identity will be preserved.

Tata Motors – The deliveries for the new Nexon, Altroz and Harrier with BS6 compliant diesel engines will commence in March. The petrol BS6 versions of the Altroz and Nexon have commenced deliveries right away. The Indian carmaker is waiting for country-wide rollout of BS6 diesel.

Ola – The ride hailing Indian app Ola has now been introduced in London. The company has over 25,000 drivers registered on the app. It is available in Comfort, Comfort XL and Exec ride classes.

Honda City – The new generation Honda City has been officially teased in India. The Japanese carmaker will introduce the 5th gen City in India next month with BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engine options. It will look similar to the Japanese model but with slight tweaks for India.

Maruti Vitara Brezza – The compact SUV got a facelift at the Auto Expo 2020. Maruti Suzuki has updated the Vitara Brezza with new cosmetic changes and BS6 compliant petrol engine option. The price of the updated Brezza will be announced on 15th February. There will be no diesel engine option this time around.
