Toyota Corolla Covered In Cow Dung [Video]

A woman from Gujarat has covered her Toyota Corolla in cow dung to battle the heat.

The Toyota Corolla covered with cow dung gets a traditional Indian design to it on the front and rear bumper and also along the side of the car. The owner of the car is based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and has seen been driving around in the cow dung covered car. Cow dung is used to coat the outside of huts in villages and it helps keep the temperatures cool on the inside.

The owner, Sejal Shah has said that the layer of cow dung and red mud mixture has helped to keep the cabin temperatures regulated. She has claimed that the cabin temperature remained between 36-37 degrees when the temperature outside was 45-degree Celsius. This coating has been done by her in an attempt to reduce air pollution by not using the air-con and to keep the interiors of the car cool.

However, the moist coating might ensure that the heat from the sun takes more time to reach the cabin, but the heat still enters the cabin through the glass windows and windshield. Therefore, it is not certain as to whether the covering helps in keeping the cabin temperature cool as the heat will enter through the glass. The cow dung and red mud mixture may also damage the paint of the car over a period of time.
