Maruti Alto K10 Safety Features Updated

The Alto K10 gets substantial safety upgrades to comply with the new safety norms.

After the discontinuation of the Alto 800, the throne has been passed to the Alto K10. To comply with the upcoming safety norms that begin from April 2019, Maruti has updated the safety specs on the vehicle, with the upgrade costing a slight premium. The Alto K10 has its price increased too due to the upgrades, with the prices now starting from Rs. 3.66 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Maruti has updated the entry-level hatchback with features like ABS with EBD, driver-side airbag, reverse parking sensor, speed-alert system and driver, co-driver seat-belt reminder. All these updates are according to the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 145 safety norms. The Alto K10 is now priced at Rs. 3.66 – 4.45 lakhs (ex-showroom), which means that a premium of Rs. 16,515-26,946/- is charged according to respective variants.

The K10 is powered by a 1.0-litre K-Next engine that is good for 67 BHP at 6000 RPM and 90 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM. The fuel efficiency figures for the petrol engine is 24.7 km/l for both the manual and the automatic gearbox, Whereas the CNG variant of the Alto K10 has a fuel efficiency of 32.26 km/kg. The Alto K10 rivals the likes of Renault Kwid and the Datsun redi-GO in the entry-level hatchback segment. Renault offers the Kwid with the same safety features as the Alto K10, but the Datsun redi-GO comes only with ABS.
