The KTM Duke & RC 250 twins won’t be launched in India

We knew it was coming, but KTM still managed to surprise the motorcycle world with the unveiling of the Duke 250 and RC 250 twins in Japan earlier this year. The Austrian bike maker’s newest fighters in the quarter-litre space are ready to take on the world, offering a tad bit more power over the 200 twins from the new 250cc engine while based on the same tried and tested trellis frame. In this latest commercial, the newest KTM twins take to the streets of Thailand, painting it orange.

You see the KTM Duke and RC ‘Two fifties’ going crazy on the streets of Bangkok as they make their way through the concrete jungle evading the traffic on flyovers, highways, tunnels and the occasional country roads to arrive at the destination. Both the bikes showcase their overwhelming handling prowess on the roads as they change lanes, take sharp turns, while doing wheelies on the street. Knowing its siblings the Duke 200/390 and RC 200/390, the 250s are as much powerful as they look while offering the fun quotient for city and highway rides.

Doing a quick reminder on the figures, the KTM Duke and RC 250 draw power from a 250cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that produces 31.3 PS and 24 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The 250 twins come equipped with ABS and slipper clutch while the substantial increase in power strikes the right balance between city and highway riding when compared to the city friendly Duke 200 and the highway friendly Duke 390. While the Duke and RC 250 won’t be launched in India, they are produced at the KTM-Bajaj facility in Chakan and exported to several South East Asian and certain European markets.
