2020 Mahindra Thar Automatic Confirmed By Company Officials
It is a known fact that Mahindra is gearing up to launch the new generation Thar in a couple of months from now. The vehicle is expected to be much more modern and feature-loaded. It’ll also have heavily upgraded mechanicals. The availability of an automatic in the new Thar is something that we all knew about but now the same has been confirmed by Mahindra.
A company official stated that the 2020 Mahindra Thar is their flagship initiative and it’ll come with an automatic gearbox while also creating a new segment. The AT will be a 6-speed unit from Aisin that we have previously seen on the XUV500. The Thar will come with two engine options – upgraded version of the 2.2-litre diesel mHawk and the new 2.0-litre turbo petrol mStallion unit that was shown at the 2020 Auto Expo. A 6-speed MT will also be offered.
The 2020 Mahindra Thar will boast of a lot of features. It will come equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, remote locking, and a touchscreen infotainment system. The Thar is expected to get a hard-top variant too. Mahindra will launch the Thar in September 2020 and it will rival the Force Gurkha BS6 for now.
